Mark Candon founded the Rutland, Vermont office of Moors & Cabot along with Kevin Austin in 1995. He started in the brokerage business with Smith Barney at One Federal Street in Boston in 1984. Moving home to Vermont in 1990, he worked for Paine Webber until opening the Moors & Cabot office.
He is a native of Proctor, Vermont and a graduate of Brown University, where he played soccer. After college he worked as a writer and was elected to two terms in the Vermont House of Representatives. He was named Legislator of the Year for Vermont in 1983. In 1998 he ran for Congress and is still active in the Vermont state and local political scene.
Mark and Debbie Candon live in Rutland and have three children: Justin is a bond salesman in New York City, Molly an associate professor at the Wharton School in Philadelphia, and Reilly a business manager in Ballina, Ireland.
Mark has a 7 handicap in golf and skis 35 times every winter at Pico Mountain in Killington, Vermont. He was a trustee at Vermont Academy for 22 years and has long served on the finance committees of Christ the King Church and School in Rutland.
